We started our journey from Eindhoven Airport, full of excitement and anticipation. After a smooth flight, we arrived in Budapest, Hungary – let the adventure begin!
Our home for the trip was the brand-new Jo&Joe hostel, which had only opened three months ago. Everyone settled into bunk beds before heading out to explore the vibrant city.
On our first evening, we split into groups to explore Buda and Pest, capturing memories along the way and soaking in the city’s stunning sights.
The next morning, we woke up early to go ice skating with a Hungarian high school. Some of us found it trickier than expected, but it was a fantastic way to meet new friends and enjoy the crisp winter air. After skating, we had some free time to explore the city further.
In the evening, we gathered for a pub quiz organized by Mr. van Dijk. Teams like Buda, de Pest, Budapesters, and JYMC competed in rounds on general knowledge, history, fashion, music, and the hilarious “Who said what,” where we matched teachers’ famous lines to the right person. Congratulations to Jaap, Teun, Paul, and Luuk for winning!
The following day, we visited a local IB school, joining Hungarian students for lessons in Maths, English, German, and Sports. It was amazing to experience their classrooms and see how education differs abroad.
Next, we toured the University of Corvinus, a stunning building full of history and inspiration. Afterwards, we had some free time to wander Buda and enjoy the city at our own pace.
All too soon, it was time to board our plane back to Eindhoven. We returned with countless memories, new friendships, and a deeper appreciation for the beautiful city of Budapest.
