During Elde week one etvh2a went on the first part of their exchange with our partner school in Hattingen, Germany. This is with the Waldstrasse Gymnasium.
On our first day of course we got to know the extremely picturesque village of Hattingen on a tour written by our partners. we of course stopped off for some pizza. We then started our project which was about democracy and the rise of nationalism.
On day two we visited Bochum where we visited important spots of the city linked to Naziism and the 2nd world war so that we could prepare a presentation about the time. In the afternoon we were able to enjoy ourselves as we visited some escape rooms. This was an extremely large escape room centre with 15 different themes. We could try as often as we liked. great fun!!
On day three we visited the city of Cologne learning about its history and then we got to try some chocolate at the chocolate factory, obviously the best part of the day!
On day four we worked at school on our democracy project and the presentations. We then went home to prepare for the Halloween party. The costume were spooky and the atmosphere was fantastic. Everybody danced and sang together.
On the final day it was time to present our findings and unfortunatley to say goodbye. It was a great week and we can’t wait to see our partners again in the spring.
